Symantec Hosts the President of Estonia
June 10, 2009 On Wednesday, June 10th, 2009, Symantec was honored to host Mr. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, president of Estonia, at Symantec’s world headquarters in Cupertino, CA.
President Ilves was greeted by Symantec Chairman of the Board John W. Thompson, who met with President Ilves and his contingent of Estonian business leaders.
The meeting was requested by the Estonian Enterprise Promotion Agency was part of a tour President Ilves was conducting of Silicon Valley.
During the meeting, the following issues and topics were discussed:
- How Symantec can increase cooperation with the Estonian government in support its efforts to establish and run the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence in Tallinn, Estonia.
- Work Estonia with regards to efforts by the European Union to establish the proper classification of IP address information and how such information should be treated in terms of data protection.
- How Symantec can build upon its presence in Estonia in expand its business operations not only there but throughout the Baltic Region.
