Symantec’s Dean Turner Testifies on Capitol Hill

May 25, 2011 - Dean Turner, Director of Symantec’s Global Intelligence Network was invited to provide expert testimony to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s Subcommittee on National Security, Homeland Defense and Foreign Operations. Chaired by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), the hearing focused on cybersecurity and assessing the immediate threat to the United States. In his testimony, Dean provided an overview of today’s increasingly sophisticated threat environment and the real-world impacts on critical infrastructure, corporate enterprises, small businesses and consumers. Pointing to Symantec’s April 2011 Internet Security Threat Report, Dean noted that more than 286 million new threats were identified in 2010, and that “Bad actors are getting smarter and more resourceful every day and we must continue to be vigilant to protect our economy, our national security, and our way of life.”
