June 14, 2011 – Symantec’s U.S. Public Sector team hosted the largest-ever Government Symposium in Washington, D.C. with more than 1,600 attendees. This year’s theme was “24-7: Assured, Efficient, Anywhere”.
Devoted to government IT security and information system management, the Symposium was comprised of multiple learning tracks including cloud, mobile access, policy and operations, and featured keynotes from General Colin Powell and Under Secretary Rand Beers of the Department of Homeland Security. In addition, Symantec announced the winners of the “Cyber 4 Awards” that recognize leaders who exemplify excellence in government cyber security through their contributions to programs that address cyber security challenges and protect our nation’s data and systems.
Enrique Salem, President and CEO, and Gigi Schumm, VP US Public Sector presented the award for Congressional leadership to Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX) who has been a strong advocate for cybersecurity programs and is one of the leading voices in Congress on this issue.
