CUPERTINO, Calif. --January 15, 1996-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq:SYMC) announced today the availability of Norton Utilities for Windows 95 on CD-ROM which uses extensive multimedia resources, such as video, animations and sound, to provide a wealth of additional technical information.
This information is seamlessly integrated into the company's award-winning utilities for protecting and improving Windows 95 computer systems. The CD version adds three Companions: Disk Companion, Memory Companion, and Norton Utilities Companion.
The Disk Companion is a multimedia tutorial that explains how the Windows 95 file system works, with help on correcting difficult problems; the Memory Companion explains how Windows 95 manages memory and helps the user make the best possible use of this limited resource; and the Norton Utilities Companion shows the user how to get the most out of Norton Utilities through multimedia demonstrations and interviews with the developers.
"Symantec was the first company to offer utilities to enhance Windows 95, and this release of Norton Utilities on CD-ROM takes the program a step further by making our expertise available to the average user," said Karen Black, vice president of advanced utilities. "The Companions make it easy for anyone to become a power user of Windows 95."
"I think the Companion is the single most intuitive device to assist users since the online help file. It offers the convenience of a reference book on your home computer and is a definite winner with the Norton Utilities CD-ROM package," said George Bliven, a Norton Utilities beta tester.

Norton Utilities for Windows 95 is now available on CD-ROM at an estimated retail price of $129 or a trade-up price of $69.95 for existing Norton Utilities and PCTools customers.
