Symantec Brings the Power of ACT! to the Notes Collaborative Environment

Complete Contact Management System Sales Teams Can Use to Manage Relationships More Effectively

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- April 29, 1996 -- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq:SYMC) today announced the availability of ACT! for Notes, a powerful combination of the best-selling contact manager and the top-rated groupware product. ACT! for Notes provides workgroups and individual workgroup members with the most effective way to manage their business relationships by offering the combined strengths of the groupware functions found in Notes and the ease-of-use of ACT!, the market leader in contact management.

ACT! for Notes is a native Notes application that manages contacts, activities, notes, history, and correspondence, and through Lotus Notes functionality, supports multi-user databases, document level security, and database replication. Current ACT! users can easily import their existing ACT! 2.0 for Windows or Macintosh databases into ACT! for Notes which allows them to maintain all of their current data. ACT! for Notes data can also be exported to ACT! 2.0 for Windows and Macintosh.

Contact Management Features
Key features of ACT! for Notes include contact profiles to track contact information such as name and address along with fifteen user-definable fields. In addition, users can keep date-stamped, free-form notes and develop detailed history logs. Contact views can be sorted by company, customer name, and various other fields. Users can also indicate private and public contacts for collaborative efforts. Contacts can be easily grouped by user-definable categories, such as client or vendor. ACT! for Notes also supports correspondence capabilities, report tracking and advanced database features.

Account Management Features
ACT! for Notes allows users to track company-related information in addition to contact documents. Users can easily track billing and shipping addresses as well as personnel information for each company in the database. Additional functionality allows users to summarize activities, notes and history and then view the information for the account. ACT! for Notes also allows users to link contact documents to companies for quick access. User definable fields, labels and pop-ups description fields can be customized for company documents. From the company records, users can link to the Internet using Lotus Notes Web capabilities. User can also categorize companies by user-definable categories.

Integrated Calendar-Activity Management Features
Flexible tasks list allow users to view and sort tasks by date, type, priority and assignment. Users can also view activities by day, week and month with ACT! for Notes unique graphical calendar mode. ACT! for Notes also offers automatic links to contact documents, the ability to set activities as private or public, and the ability to assign activities to others within a workgroup and track those activities to completion.

Shared Account Information Features
For salespeople in a collaborative environment, ACT! for Notes provides a secure, reliable way to store, manage, and distribute customer information across a whole sales team. Team members can access any customer or account information based on the level of security set by the user. Users can attach files to contact records which will provide information such as spreadsheets and presentations that can be shared across a group.

Pricing and Availability
ACT! for Notes is now available through Symantec's corporate resellers worldwide in a CD single-node and 10-node license pack with an estimated price of $249.95 U.S. and $2,250 U.S. respectively. Purchases over 10 nodes are available via any of Symantec's distributors and resellers through the company's Value or VIP programs.

System Requirements
ACT! for Notes requires a 486 machine with 16 MB RAM, Notes Release 4 (desktop or the full Notes version), and Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. ACT! for Notes also requires a Notes 4 server running either OS/2 Warp or Windows NT.
