Symantec Appoints Calisi to Lead Delrina Group Communications & Electronic Forms Business

Delrina Co-Founders Step Down & Hand Over Reins

TORONTO, Ont. -- May 14, 1996 -- Christopher Calisi, 37, has been appointed Vice President Communications Product Group of Symantec's Toronto-based Delrina Group operations and businesses, effective immediately. Mr. Calisi, reporting directly to Gordon E. Eubanks, Jr., Symantec president and CEO, will lead all activities of the group worldwide, which include Symantec's communications, remote communications, and electronic forms product development businesses.

After a period of transitioning the Delrina organization and products into Symantec since the combination announced last July, Delrina co-founders Dennis Bennie and Bert Amato have resigned their positions and will continue for a period of time in a consulting capacity to Symantec. Mr. Bennie has also stepped down from Symantec’s Board.

"Dennis and Bert have earned our respect through their key entrepreneurial roles in building a market-leading and respected franchise in communications and electronic forms, and in leading the introduction of long-anticipated innovative new products into the market this year for Symantec," said Mr. Eubanks. "We expect a smooth transition to the new management team with assistance from Dennis and Bert over the next few months."

Eubanks commented on Calisi’s appointment, "We are pleased to announce the appointment of Chris, with his breadth of experience and leadership in communications as well as network software, to head the Delrina Group. Previously, Calisi was General Manager of the pcANYWHERE business unit within the Symantec Delrina Group, with development effort and operations based in Melville, NY. Calisi joined Symantec in 1992 to assist during the successful transition of DMA's products and operations into Symantec. Since then, under Calisi's direction, the pcANYWHERE remote-communications software products have become one of Symantec's top-selling, best-of-breed offerings and a market leader in the category. Calisi has worked for several entrepreneurial startups, but the majority of his career before Symantec was spent at Computer Associates. Throughout his 15-year career in the computer industry, he has held a series of positions in product development as well as sales. Calisi graduated from State University of New York with a degree in Computer Science and received Executive Training at the Wharton School of Business.

Delrina Group general managers, Marc Camm responsible for WinFax and CommSuite, Teddy Rosenberg for FormFlow, and Michael Kerman for pcANYWHERE will be reporting to Mr. Calisi.
