Symantec Previews new versions of ACT! for Notes at Lotusphere '97

ACT! For Notes Updates And An Early Look At ACT! for Domino Previewed At The Lotusphere Showcase

ORLANDO, Fla. --January 27, 1997-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq:SYMC) previewed today updates to ACT! for Notes and previewed an early look at ACT! for Domino at Lotusphere '97, Lotus Development Corp.'s annual business and developers' conference. Symantec continues to deliver the highest quality Notes applications in contact management by offering customers solutions that are based on the latest technology offered by Lotus. With ACT! for Notes, customers will be able to leverage the advanced calendaring and scheduling functions now available in Notes 4.5. Symantec is offering an upgrade to ACT! for Notes that lets customers work in customized databases and flexible calendars to meet the needs of each group or team. With the preview of ACT! for Domino, Symantec is poised to deliver a full featured contact management solution for the Internet/Intranet.

ACT! 1.03 for Notes 4.0
ACT! 1.03 for Notes 4.0 is a free upgrade to the powerful Notes-based contact manager. ACT! 1.03 for Notes is a native Notes application that manages contacts, activities, notes, history, and correspondence, and through Lotus Notes functionality, supports multi-user databases, document level security, and database replication. Just like the popular Windows application, ACT! 1.03 for Notes focuses on providing a simple, easy-to-use interface built on top of Notes that helps salespeople and other contact intensive professionals be more productive. ACT! 1.03 for Notes now provides workgroups and individual workgroup members with the ability to change database design and is ready to use out of the box. With the database opened, users now have the ability to alter design elements such as forms, views, agents, sub-forms, and shared fields. Additionally, ACT! 1.03 for Notes now offers users a built-in link between ACT! for Notes documents and documents in other Lotus Notes applications. Users can now also take advantage of @DBLookup functions. ACT! 1.03 for Notes is available now.

ACT! 1.5 for Notes 4.5
ACT! 1.5 for Notes 4.5 takes advantage of the new calendaring and scheduling capabilities in Notes 4.5 in conjunction with the standard easy-to-use ACT! interface. ACT! 1.5 for Notes also has F/X links with popular word processors. Other new features based on Notes 4.5 include; faster access time, access to activities directly from the calendar view, drag-and-drop rescheduling, one step scheduling of new activities directly from the calendar and conflict checking for activities. ACT! 1.5 for Notes for Notes 4.5 will be available in Spring 97.

ACT! for Domino
ACT! for Domino utilizes Lotus's cutting-edge Internet/Intranet server software to offer full contact management directly on the Web. Created specifically for Internet/Intranet use, ACT! for Domino combines key ACT! for Notes features with an easy-to-use Web interface based on the familiar ACT! interface. Users can create and manage contacts, activities, and company documents, as well as create and print correspondence directly from the Web. All security features of Notes are available with password protection from the database level down to the document level. Like ACT! 1.5 for Notes, ACT! for Domino leverages Notes 4.5 calendaring and scheduling features. Featuring a customizable graphical design using Java, full replication with ACT! for Notes databases, and accessibility from any major Intranet browser, ACT! for Domino will provide Internet/Intranet teams and departments with a powerful contact management solution. ACT! for Domino will be available in Summer 1997.

Pricing and Availability
Customers using ACT! for Notes are eligible for a free upgrade to version 1.03 through Symantec Corporation. ACT! 1.5 for Notes will be available in the Spring of 1997 from Symantec Corporation and Symantec's network of authorized resellers. Pricing has not yet been determined. ACT! for Domino will be available in the Summer 1997 from Symantec Corporation and Symantec's network of authorized resellers. Pricing has not yet been determined. ACT! 1.03 for Notes is available through Symantec's corporate resellers worldwide in a CD single-node and 10-node license pack with an estimated price of $249.95 US and $2,250 US respectively. Purchases over 10 nodes are available via any of Symantec's distributors and resellers through the company's Value or VIP programs.
