HealthyPC.Com Service Offerings
HealthyPC.Com consists of two separate services: a free advice and consultation area maintained by ZDNet, and The Health Club, a subscription- based membership service which provides access to Symantec's leading anti- virus, utility and LiveUpdate software.
The HealthyPC.Com free area, which is under ZDNet's sole editorial control, enables users to receive consultation from technical experts, discuss computing issues with other users in message boards, and receive daily tips on keeping their PCs in top condition. At launch, the free area will feature three main sections: "Tips & Tricks," editorial gathered and regularly updated from a wide range of Ziff-Davis publications; access to software utilities from the popular ZDNet Software Library; and "Expert Advice," a discussion area in which users pose troubleshooting- and maintenance-related questions and get answers from HealthyPC.Com experts. In the next few months, ZDNet will add additional resources to the free area, from a searchable database of technical support information, to interactive benchmark and performance testing of user's PCs.
The Health Club subscription service provides a highly affordable way to access Symantec's industry-leading Anti-Virus software and maintenance utilities, get monthly virus definitions and also receive third-party updates to the user's software and hardware. For just $4.95 per month, users receive membership access to two innovative services; VitalCheck and LiveUpdate. VitalCheck, which is based on Norton Disk Doctor and Norton AntiVirus technologies, analyzes the member's system, locates and removes viruses, and fixes hard drive problems. LiveUpdate determines the hardware and software installed on members' systems, and locates and installs any available hardware drivers and software updates specific to their machine. Live Update draws from Symantec's up-to-the-minute database of more than 300 patches, drivers and application add-ons.
