CUPERTINO, Calif. --April 30, 1997-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced they have completed Hewlett Packard's (HP) acquisition of the assets of Symantec's networking Business Unit, which will be incorporated into HP's OpenView system- and network-management business.
The companies announced February 19 that HP would acquire three components of Symantec's Norton Administrator Suite, which allow IT administrators to increase productivity and reduce the total cost of ownership of networked PCs and servers. These components include Norton Administrator for Networks, Exposé and Norton Desktop Administrator.
In addition, in a separate agreement, HP OpenView will OEM Symantec's pcANYWHERE product which provides remote control capabilities.
HP will market these products as part of its HP OpenView product family.
