Symantec's Web Site Ranks Among The Top 100 Busiest Sites On The World Wide Web

Site Offers Hot Content Including Free Trialware, Free Anti-Virus Updates, and Upgrades for Symantec's Complete Line of Software

CUPERTINO, Calif. --Sept. 9 1997-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) announced today that its Web site (http://www.symantec.com) has been named as one of the most popular sites on the Internet, according to Web21, the first online service to rank the top 100 Web sites by the number of hits and links. Ranked above McAfee, Amazon.com and the New York Times, Symantec's Web site offers consumers free product test drives, the industry's only free updates for Norton Anti-Virus and other Symantec anti-virus supported products and upgrades for the company's line of software.

"This is a real victory for our web efforts," said Dana Siebert, Vice President of the Americas, Symantec Corporation. "We've designed the Symantec site to be useful to consumers from the point they are considering a particular product to long after they have made their purchase decision."

Symantec's Web site gives consumers the power to try any of the company's popular software products before they buy, including the Norton product line of anti-virus and PC-assistance products; as well as the pcANYWHERE, WinFax, ACT! and Café product lines. Consumers also have the flexibility to buy any of the software online once they've tried it, or get a listing of local retail outlets which carry the products.

The site also provides consumers access to Symantec's Anti-Virus Research Center (SARC), one of the world's largest dedicated teams of virus experts. From SARC, consumers can download the industry's only free virus definition updates to help protect against the latest virus threats.
