CUPERTINO, Calif. --September 24, 1997-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) today reported that TelMex, the largest telecommunications company in Mexico, has selected Norton AntiVirus as its choice for anti-virus protection, switching from their former anti-virus vendor, McAfee. The corporate license and maintenance contract was awarded to Symantec in late August and will include the installation of Norton AntiVirus products on all of the TelMex computers, making this one of Symantec's largest international contracts ever signed in the Latin America region.
According to a spokesperson for TelMex, "After more than a year of research, testing and evaluation of all anti-virus companies, we are pleased to award this important contract to Symantec and Norton AntiVirus.
