CUPERTINO, Calif. --November 10, 1997-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) announced the appointment of Tania Amochaev to the Symantec board of directors.
Ms. Amochaev brings with her an extensive background in management and operations. In 1992, she joined QRS Corporation as president and was soon promoted to CEO. QRS is the leading demand chain management services company for the retail industry, providing innovative electronic commerce solutions through network centric, inter-enterprise information services. In February 1997, she became Chairman of the Executive Committee of the QRS board of directors. From 1988 to 1992, Ms. Amochaev served as CEO and Chairman for Natural Language, Inc., a company specializing in the retrieval of information in relational databases. From 1984 through 1987, Ms. Amochaev served as CEO and Chairman at Comserv, Inc., a manufacturing software company, where she successfully turned the troubled company back to profitability and market leadership.

Ms. Amochaev currently serves on the board of directors at QRS Corporation, Government Technology Services, Inc. (GTSI) and Walker Interactive (all listed on the Nasdaq). She has served on the Executive Board of the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley, and the Board of Trustees at the College of St. Catherine.
Ms. Amochaev holds a B.A. in Mathematics from U.C. Berkeley, and an M.S. in Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate from the College of St. Catherine's in Minnesota.
