Symantec Launches Customer Reward Program

Customers Earn Points for Free Software, Merchandise and Technical Support

Cupertino, Calif. --November 19, 1997--Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), maker of the number one brand of problem solving software, today launched Tell-A-Friend at Norton Uninstall Deluxe to a friend who then buys the product. These points are redeemable for free software, a wide variety of merchandise and Gold technical support.

"We have a very loyal customer base at Symantec and have developed a program to reward our Symantec champions," said Matt DiMaria, vice president of marketing for Symantec's Americas region. "Tell-A-Friend is a way for us to thank the customers who have made our products the most recommended in the industry."

Customers may register to be a Symantec champion online at http://www.symantec.com/friend/ or by filling out a Tell-A-Friend coupon. Symantec will help customers start earning rewards by awarding one point to everyone who registers. Customers will each have a personal identification number that they use to earn points, check on point status and claim awards.

Symantec champions earn one point for each referral who buys one of the eligible products and sends the completed referral form with the proof of purchase to Symantec. The referral forms are available on the Tell-A-Friend Web site or by calling Symantec's Fax-On-Demand system at 1-800-554-4403 code 097.

Customers can redeem points online or by calling 1-800-494-8825. The Tell-A-Friend Web site has a complete catalog of available awards. Customers who have earned between three and 10 points can choose from more than 20 awards. The awards include Symantec clothing and accessories, Symantec software worth up to $200 and five incidents of Technical Gold Support for one year worth $100. Symantec will pay any shipping and handling costs.

The Tell-A-Friend program ends Oct. 1, 1999. Symantec resellers do not qualify for the Tell-A-Friend program.
