Cupertino, Calif --August 17, 1998-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the promotion of Dana E. Siebert to Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Services. Symantec also promoted Keith Robinson to Siebert¹s previous position as Vice President for the Americas region, responsible for sales, marketing and customer services in North and South America.
In his new role, Siebert is responsible for the company¹s sales, marketing, customer service and technical support operations worldwide, with Symantec¹s regional vice presidents in Japan, Asia/Pacific, Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) and the Americas reporting to him. Siebert will focus on expanding the company¹s international business and delivering products and services that suit the needs of local markets. Siebert will also manage the worldwide transition of IBM customers to Norton AntiVirus, as a result of the announcement Symantec and IBM made in May that IBM has assigned its antivirus customer and OEM contracts to Symantec.
"Dana has been a key architect of our strategy to penetrate markets outside the U.S. and Keith has a proven track record in driving Symantec's growth," said Gordon Eubanks, President and CEO of Symantec. "Their extensive experience with the field organizations will strengthen our customer satisfaction and loyalty worldwide."
Siebert joined Symantec from THINK Technologies as Director of International Sales after the company was acquired in 1987. Since then he has served in various vice president positions handling sales, marketing, technical support, customer service, order administration and business operations for territories within and outside the United States.
In Robinson's new role as Vice President of the Americas region, he will oversee marketing, technical support, sales and customer service operations for the United States, Canada and Latin America. Robinson joined Symantec in 1989 as General Manager of Symantec Canada. He has held various management positions, directing sales, marketing and customer support for the Americas and the Pacific Rim.
