Cupertino, Calif --November 24, 1998-- Symantec customer service representative Michael O'Grady, has been named "Call Center Operator of the Year" at the third Annual Call Center Awards ceremony held recently in Dublin, Ireland - customer service capital of Europe for the IT, financial and other industries.
The call center industry is one of Ireland's fastest growing businesses. Currently more than 60 multinational call centers are based in the country. And the number of people employed in call center roles is expected to increase from 7,000 today to over 12,000 by 2001.
The awards cover all facets of the call center industry including customer service, technical support, telesales, telemarketing and helpdesk functions. Michael was awarded the accolade "Call Center Operator of the Year" for his dedication to customer service as demonstrated by the number of thank you letters received from customers, one of whom stated that "if customer service was an Olympic sport, Michael would win the gold medal".
Symantec was also presented with a Highly Recommended award in the Call Center of the Year category.
