Cupertino, Calif. May 13, 1999 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in utility software for business and personal computing, today announced price reductions on Norton SystemWorks 2.0 and Norton Utilities 4.0. For a limited time, Symantec is offering a combination of lower prices and significant rebates on these products to provide consumers a cost-effective way to ensure a safe migration to Microsoft Office 2000.
"We are pleased to be able to offer our award-winning utilities at a reduced price to the thousands of computer users who will move to MS Office 2000," said Enrique Salem, vice president of Symantec's Security and Assistance Business Unit. "By making Norton SystemWorks and Norton Utilities even more affordable, Symantec is taking a proactive role in ensuring that these users have safe and productive computing experiences as they migrate to the next generation of Microsoft's popular business application suite."
Effective May 15 through September 30, 1999, Symantec is lowering the price on Norton SystemWorks 2.0 Standard Edition from $69.95 to $59.95 and is including a $20 rebate on the Standard Edition as well as on the Professional Edition (which is priced at $99.95 before rebate).
Effective May 15 through August 15, 1999, Symantec is including a $20 rebate on purchases of Norton Utilities 4.0. In addition, effective June 10 through July 9, 1999, Symantec is offering users who buy Microsoft Office 2000 and Norton Utilities 4.0 a mail-in rebate for the full $49.95 purchase price of Norton Utilities.
Norton SystemWorks 2.0 is the industry's number one utility suite. Norton SystemWorks includes Norton AntiVirus, the only anti-virus software to be Office 2000-ready, as well as Norton Utilities, Norton CleanSweep, Norton CrashGuard, and a six-month subscription to Norton Web Services-all in one convenient package. As a result, while customers of other anti-virus software must wait for a complete product update to be protected against possible new macro viruses in Microsoft Office 2000 documents, Norton AntiVirus customers can receive immediate protection with a single mouse click.
Norton Utilities 4.0 provides Microsoft Office 2000 users with crash protection, registry repair and optimization, and disaster recovery in a single simple-to-use package. More importantly, Norton Utilities 4.0 not only finds problems, but it goes a critical step farther and offers clear, prioritized recommendations for the best way to solve those problems. As a result, Norton Utilities 4.0 is an indispensable tool for maintaining computer systems at peak performance levels.
