CUPERTINO, Calif. - August 16, 1999 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq:SYMC) today announced the Solutions Alliance Program for Latin America, a program designed to encourage the Latin American corporate reseller community to work closer with Symantec and its products. The program helps Value Added Resellers (VAR's), integrators, developers and consultants by providing special expertise relating to Symantec products focusing on the areas of anti-virus and content security, and remote productivity solutions. The program will be introduced at various events throughout the Latin American region.

"The Solutions Alliance Program is designed to provide Symantec's award-winning technology and expertise to Alliance members in Latin America to help them be successful." Solutions Alliance Program Components The program offers two levels of membership: Solutions Associate and Solutions Partner. All corporate resellers in Latin America are encouraged to apply for membership.
The Solutions Associate level offers: Access to Solution Kits; access to three Latin America Symantec Solutions Alliance web sites which provide access to detailed technical information, sales resources and program updates (English - www.Symantec.com/la/var/, Spanish - www.Symantec.com/mx/var/ and Brazilian Portuguese - www.Symantec.com/br/var/); a free listing on Symantec's website; the Symantec Value licensing program; technical support; access to all Symantec products; a Not For Resale purchase program; a quarterly Symantec electronic newsletter featuring the latest company news and product revisions; and Solution Alliance program artwork and collateral.
The Solutions Partner level offers all of the Associate level benefits in addition to a "Symantec Expert" training - Symantec's highest level of technical support and opportunities to participate in co-marketing programs with Symantec.
Solutions Alliance Membership
Solution Associates must maintain Symantec Certified Specialists on staff for each Symantec product, provide technical services to customers and submit quarterly sales and service reports. Solution Partners must be nominated by a Symantec account representative and demonstrate technical expertise in Symantec products. Applications for program enrollment can be found at www.symantec.com/la/var/. All applications must be submitted electronically. Approvals will be sent via e-mail in four business days.
