Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the appointment of Cress Carter as vice president of U.S. Corporate Sales and Marketing, which is responsible for enterprise customers in the commercial, government, and education sectors. Carter was formerly president of L-3 Network Security, which was acquired by Symantec in March. As a founder of L-3 Network Security, Carter oversaw the development of the company's risk assessment and vulnerability management technologies, which are now part of Symantec's operational security offering. Carter has also worked closely with CIOs in the United States and Europe to understand enterprise security needs. Carter joined Symantec after more than 16 years' experience in information security and sales and marketing, including heading up the security products group for Trident Data Systems. Prior to that, Carter ran the worldwide sales, channels, marketing and services organization for nView Corp. and Hughs-JVC Technology Corp.
