Symantec Expands Presence In Eastern Europe

New Office in Prague, Czech Republic, Expands Symantec Presence to Four Countries in Eastern Europe

CUPERTINO, Calif. - May 10, 2000 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the opening of an office in Prague to provide Internet security solutions and services to individuals and companies in the Czech and Slovak Republics. The new office is Symantec's fourth in Eastern Europe. Symantec also received the official registration of its office in Budapest, Hungary, to complement the facilities in Moscow and also Warsaw, Poland, which opened at the end of 1999.

The Eastern Europe economy is strengthening and has tremendous potential," says Giuseppe Verrini, Symantec's vice president Europe, Middle East and Africa. "The new office in Prague is the first of several we plan to open in Europe during the course of the year."

"With the European Union associating countries in Central Eastern Europe, Symantec is intensifying its activities in this region", says Igor Levin, regional manager, Sales and Marketing, Eastern Europe. "Together with our existing partners, local offices will be able to meet the special needs of our customers in these countries."

Symantec's Europe, Middle East and Africa region generates more than $200 million a year in revenues and grew 24 percent in the first quarter of 2000.
