(Nasdaq: SYMC), the leading Internet security provider, today announced that Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) in South Africa has chosen Symantec and Datacentrix to provide its content security solutions. The three-year agreement encompasses 10,000 user licenses each of Norton AntiVirus, I-Gear and Mail-Gear, as well as Platinum support over the period. Symantec won the business in collaboration with Datacentrix, one of its Corporate Partners.

I-Gear is a server-based Internet Content Security product that features a high-performance proxy/caching server and enables comprehensive, flexible control and monitoring of Web access. Mail-Gear is the most comprehensive multi-platform policy-based e-mail filtering software. The product allows administrators to establish per-user, per-computer, and per-group access permissions and customized content scanning. Administrators can create unlimited dictionaries and allow/deny address lists that can be uniquely applied. Mail-Gear also provides comprehensive reporting, scheduling, and e-mail routing to protect organizations from misuse of e-mail and ensure accountability.
