(Nasdaq: SYMC), a world leader in Internet security technology, today announced Carey Nachenberg, chief researcher of the Symantec AntiVirus Response Center (SARC), is participating at the InformationWeek Conference held Sept. 10-16 in Tucson, Arizona. Nachenberg's presentation, "The Decade of the Worm," will address the key factors contributing to the recent rash of worldwide computer worms and identify specific policy decisions corporations can enact to limit the spread of these threats.

As chief researcher for SARC, Nachenberg is involved in the design and development of security technologies and has become recognized as a world-renowned expert on computer viruses and worms. His expertise in developing security solutions against computer threats was influential during the Melissa and LoveLetter crises. Nachenberg has been with Symantec for nine years as a software-engineer and architect for multiple Symantec products. In the last year and a half, Nachenberg has filed eight new patents and has received patents for three more on anti-virus technologies. Nachenberg is a regular contributor to Virus Bulletin, Secure Computing, Communications of the ACM and other major computer security journals. Nachenberg holds bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science and engineering from UCLA.
