(Nasdaq: SYMC), the leader in Internet security, today announced Char Sample, Mike Nickel, and Rob Hale, architects at Symantec's research labs, are presenting at the Computer Security Institute's 27th Annual Computer Security Conference and Exhibition to be held Nov. 13 – 15 in Chicago from 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. This seminar titled, "Security Product Shortcomings," will address the issues that prevent Internet security products from effectively protecting network environments.
"The recent victims of denial-of-service and unauthorized access attacks to confidential information display the escalating threat of cyber crime," said Sample. "Although individuals and organizations take precautions to protect their systems and information investments, failure within the protection module can result in systems and network penetration. At this seminar, we will discuss how the shortcomings of product design and deployment result in vulnerabilities to various attack types."
Mike Nickle and Rob Hale are architects within Symantec's research labs and have collective years of experience in secure network design and network intrusion detection. Sample is an architect within Symantec's research labs and has more than 15 years of experience in the industry. Sample's expertise includes firewall installation, deployment of e-commerce solutions, implementation of organizational training, and a history of conference presentations on the topic of Internet security. Sample holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree in systems management at Capitol College.
