Symantec's Norton AntiVirus And Norton SystemWorks Continue To Outsell Competitors On PC Data's Top Selling Software List

Symantec Products Also Earn Seven Positions on List of Top-Selling Business Software

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Dec 04, 2000- Symantec Corp (Nasdaq: SYMC,), a world leader in Internet security technology, today announced that October PC Data figures confirm that Symantec's Internet security and problem-solving products continue to lead the consumer software market. PC Data validates that Norton AntiVirus 2001 and Norton SystemWorks 2001are the number two and five top-selling software products respectively.

Norton AntiVirus 2001 and Norton SystemWorks 2001 also earned placement on PC Data's list of Top-Selling Business Software, along with Norton SystemWorks 2001 Professional Edition, Norton AntiVirus 7.0 Upgrade, Norton Personal Firewall 2000 2.0, Norton AntiVirus Enterprise Solution 4.0 and pcAnywhere 9.2.

Norton AntiVirus has earned a position in the top 10 Top-Selling Business Software list each month for the past three years. Norton SystemWorks, which debuted at number 15 on the Top-Selling Business Software list when it was released in September 1998, has held a position in the top 10 since October 1998.
