CUPERTINO, Calif. - May 1, 2001 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), a world leader in Internet security technology, today announced that Barry Cioe, director of product management at Symantec, will speak at the North America Conference on Audit, Control and Security (North America CACS). Cioe will speak on Borderless Networks: Securing Global Area Networks on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at 8:30 a.m.
"Technology has made it possible for professionals to connect to any network from virtually any place in the world," Cioe said. "With this new connectivity comes greater concern for remote access security. Virtual private networks (VPNs) are one component of a remote secure access solution, but security professionals need to understand all aspects of a complete solution."
Cioe will discuss the necessary elements of an effective remote security solution including VPNs, firewalls, intrusion detection and other elements of a multi-faceted security infrastructure. Participants will learn about what to consider when rolling out a security solution and how to tackle what could otherwise be viewed as an insurmountable task.
North America CACS, which runs April 30-May 3 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., will focus on the latest strategies to address business, managerial, operational, auditing, and security challenges associated with information technology and information systems. The Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) is a leader in IT governance, control, and assurance and sponsors the North America CACS.
