Symantec Expert to Discuss Security at Top Wireless Conference

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Sept. 10, 2001 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), a world leader in Internet security, today announced that Jason Conyard, Director of Wireless Business and Strategy at Symantec, will speak at the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association's (CTIA) Wireless I.T. and Internet conference in San Diego. Conyard will serve on a panel that will explore the current state of security for wireless devices deployed in the corporate environment. The panel discussion will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

"Opening up a corporate network to wireless and other handheld devices can result in complex security challenges," said Conyard. "IT managers need to understand what vulnerabilities actually exist and then develop a multi-tiered strategy for combating those threats."

Conyard will join his fellow panelists in discussing work being done to meet today's wireless security concerns. He will also offer insights into emerging security threats that are likely to appear in the near future.

CTIA Wireless I.T. and Internet 2001, which runs September 10-13, will focus on all the components of wireless data solutions including hardware providers, application developers, systems integrators, service providers and the enterprise user. CTIA's Wireless I.T. and Internet 2001 is the largest wireless Internet and mobile data show in the world.
