CUPERTINO, Calif. - Nov. 28, 2001- Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that John W. Thomspon, Symantec chairman, president and CEO, will speak at the Global Tech Summit, held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., Dec. 4-5. Hosted by the Business Software Alliance, the event is a gathering of the world's most tech-savvy business leaders, policy makers and academics who will examine the new ideas and technologies needed to advance the networked economy.
Thompson will participate on two panels for the conference. The first, entitled "Confidence In Connectivity-Security and Privacy On the Internet," is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Dec. 4, and will examine how the relationship between security and privacy on the Internet varies in a connected world of different cultures and organizations. The second panel, "The DNA of Technology Creation & Dissemination" on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., will examine the challenges business leaders face to continue developing and expanding the networked economy.
Charlie Rose, award-winning journalist from PBS and CBS will moderate both panels. Additional speakers at the Global Tech Summit include Richard Clarke, Cyberspace Security Advisor to President George W. Bush, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick and Representative Billy Tauzin, R-La., chairman, Energy and Commerce Committee, United State House of Representatives.
