Symantec VP of North American Channels to Speak at Channel Focus

Seelinger to Discuss Building Vendor Alliances That Will Work in the Channel

CUPERTINO, Calif. - April 9, 2002 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security technology, today announced that Allyson Seelinger, vice president, North American Consumer and Enterprise Channels at Symantec, will speak at Channel Focus North America 2002 on Friday, April 12. Seelinger will discuss Building Vendor Alliances That Will Work in the Channel during the 9:30 a.m. session of the conference.

"In order to succeed in today's economy, two or more vendors frequently team up to deliver multi-product and service solutions through indirect channels to their mutual end user customers," Seelinger said. "The key is choosing the correct approach to forming an alliance that will be successful for both parties."

During her presentation, Seelinger will explain how to form an alliance that is meaningful in terms of real sales results and how to translate formal "strategic alliances" into real action throughout the organization. She will also discuss how to get sales people to establish relationships with other vendors and which joint marketing engagements are most effective.

Channel Focus North America 2002, which runs April 11-12 in Hollywood, Calif., is created to give IT sales and marketing executives new strategies and tactics to help grow their market share. The conference provides a forum for computer-related hardware, software, peripherals and service providers to share how they drive business through emerging indirect and direct channels.

As Symantec's vice president of North American Consumer and Enterprise Channels, Seelinger is responsible for Symantec's channel program. Her background includes senior management positions in regional sales, marketing and distribution, as well as designing and implementing channel wide consumer promotions.
