Symantec EVP to Speak at SUPERCOMM

Hamilton to Discuss the Future of Enterprise Security

CUPERTINO, Calif. - May 29, 2002 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Gail Hamilton, executive vice president of product delivery and response, will participate in a panel discussion as part of SUPERCOMM's Enterprise Networking and Services Conference (EntNet). The panel "Enterprise Security: Will the Next-Generation Applications Really be Secure?" will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2002 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in room B302 of the Georgia World Congress Center.

During her presentation Hamilton will discuss how blended threats such as Nimda attack companies' networks and how businesses can protect themselves against this new type of threat. She will also talk about emerging technologies such as broadband and wireless networks and the security challenges posed by each.

SUPERCOMM 2002, which runs June 2-6 in Atlanta, is the premier annual communications and information technology exhibition and conference owned jointly by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and the United States Telecom Association (USTA). EntNet@SUPERCOMM is designed for enterprise networking and services professionals and will exam key network technologies such as the convergence of voice, data and wireless networks along with the emergence of third-generation networks and services.

As Symantec's executive vice president of product delivery and response, Hamilton is responsible for building the full range of Symantec's gateway, server and client security products - firewall, intrusion detection, vulnerability management, filtering and antivirus - including Symantec's newest line of integrated security solutions. Hamilton also leads Symantec Security Response ensuring customers are protected from blended threats with the latest updates and information
