Symantec CTO to Headline Two Sessions at BusinessWeek CIO Summit

CUPERTINO, Calif. - June 18, 2002 ­ Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Rob Clyde will lead two sessions at the BusinessWeek CIO Summit at the Westin Copley Place in Boston. Clyde, vice president and chief technology officer at Symantec, will present “Best Practice Exchange: Infrastructure Security” from 10:45 – 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2002. He will also oversee a table discussion on security management from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. on Thursday.

In the first presentation, Clyde will discuss several topics relating to infrastructure security, including the latest technologies, cost/benefit analysis and how the events of September 11 changed the planning of infrastructure security.

During the table discussion, Clyde will engage attendees in a discussion about how they manage security to increase security protection while lowering the total cost of ownership. He will also offer new concepts and conduct a Q&A to assist them with their Internet security needs.

Clyde is a pioneer in the development of security products, leading development for intrusion detection and policy compliance products. As chief technology officer at Symantec, Clyde sets technology vision and strategy for the company. Clyde is also a founder of Symantec Security Response, a dedicated team of security experts focused on the latest security threats.

The 2nd Annual BusinessWeek CIO Summit: Efficiency, Security and Growth in an Age of Discontinuity will offer insight into the IT-management strategies and best practices employed to help create information-based strategies for company security and growth. The Summit will be held June 20-21, 2002 in Boston.
