Symantec CTO Keynotes Information Security Session at ISACA's Network Security Conference

Additional Symantec Expert Leads Tutorial Session for Achieving ISO 17799 Compliance

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Aug. 12, 2002 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that security experts Rob Clyde and Larry Dietz will lead sessions this week at the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Network Security Conference at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

Clyde, vice president and chief technology officer at Symantec, will present a keynote address "Audit on the Frontline: Challenges and Best Practices for Information Security" from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on August 12, 2002. Clyde will demonstrate how organizations must be open to evaluate and institute new security practices to protect against increasingly complex threats. Using real-world examples of attacks and security breaches, Clyde will show how quickly security policies can become outdated and why organizations should proactively approach auditing.

Dietz, director of market intelligence at Symantec, will present "Setting High Infosec Standards: A Survival Guide to ISO 17799" from 1:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13. During this tutorial session, Dietz will discuss the components of a sound information security strategy. He will also outline the criteria for meeting the ISO 17799 standard, offering details on best practices recommended to achieve the ISO 17799 level of security.

The Network Security Conference provides attendees with information to protect an organization's technological assets while mitigating risk by identifying and addressing network security breaches. This conference is designed for veteran security professionals to keep pace with the ever-evolving threats to network environments.
