CUPERTINO, Calif. – Sept. 23, 2002 - Symantec (Nasdaq:SYMC) today announced that the Audit Committee of its Board of Directors approved the selection of KPMG LLP as the company's independent auditor, replacing Ernst & Young LLP. The change will allow Symantec the future flexibility to pursue potential business opportunities with Ernst & Young's Security & Technology Solutions practice, part of the firm's Technology and Security Risk Services group.
