Symantec Solutions to Ship with Nearly 36 Million Internet Products

Symantec Extends Security Leadership to Broadband and Home Networking Manufacturers

CUPERTINO, Calif. - April 15, 2003 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that as the result of recent strategic OEM agreements, its security solutions are expected to ship on or with nearly 36 million PCs and Internet products from leading high-tech manufacturers. Under terms of the multiple OEM agreements, a variety of Symantec products including Norton AntiVirus or Norton Internet Security will be pre-installed or bundled with solutions from the top PC, broadband, and home networking manufacturers. Participating manufacturers include eMachines, Gateway (NYSE: GTW), HP, IBM, Intel, Linksys, Micro Electronics, MPC Computers (formerly MicronPC), PowerSpec, Sony (NYSE: SNE), Toshiba (OTC: TOSBF), US Robotics, and WinBook.
