Symantec Security Expert to Speak at HIPAA Security & Privacy Conference

CUPERTINO, Calif. - June 10, 2003 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Louis J. Carpenito, CISSP, Symantec's vice president of information security business strategy, will speak at the HIPAA Security & Privacy Conference, Thursday, June 12, from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. EDT at The Biltmore in Atlanta.

His presentation "Security Technology Solutions for Patient Safety and Privacy (HIPAA)" will discuss how an organization can build an information security program that complies with the HIPAA security and privacy standards, including technologies that can assist with monitoring and enforcing policy compliance.

Carpenito is an expert in privacy and security regulatory requirements for the healthcare and financial industry and is the former chief information security officer at Johnson and Johnson and Fidelity Investments.

The HIPAA Security & Privacy Conference focuses on the key elements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Industry executives will help attendees create a blue print for establishing a health care information security program and discuss the content and scope of HIPAA regulations.
