CUPERTINO, Calif. - Aug. 6, 2003 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced the appointment of Tom Mazich as vice president, Public Sector Sales. Mazich will oversee Symantec's sales of products and services to government agencies at the federal, state and local levels in North America, including publicly funded healthcare and education organizations.

Mazich joins Symantec after a 12-year career at computer services firm Comdisco, where he managed the firm's $300 million enterprise solutions group's sales to public and commercial customers. Mazich founded Comdisco's government sales organization and helped establish the firm as a leading industry partner for government agencies.
Mazich joined Comdisco from Inference Corporation, an enterprise systems software company, where he served as vice president of sales. At Inference, Mazich established a national federal government sales organization. Prior to Inference, Mazich worked in the Boeing Company's computing systems division for five years, where he was responsible for marketing the aerospace and technology firm's software and IT services to government customers.
