Symantec CTO to Discuss Internet Security Strategies in Defense Department Speakers Series

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Dec. 15, 2003 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Rob Clyde, Symantec vice president and chief technology officer, will deliver a presentation to U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) IT authorities in the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), the U.S. military's lead agency for communications and information technology, as part of DISA's Technical Speakers Series program. Clyde's presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, at 8:30 a.m. at DISA's Falls Church, Va., offices.

Clyde's remarks will detail escalating information security risks facing government and commercial IT systems and outline protection strategies necessary to pre-empt and defeat sophisticated network intrusion methods and malicious code. He will also describe examples of military and industry collaboration to meet the DOD's information assurance objectives and counter mutual threats to trusted network infrastructures.

The DISA Technical Speakers Series invites leading technology experts from government, industry and academia to share insight, challenges and innovations with DISA's worldwide staff of military and civilian personnel.
