Symantec Strengthens Worldwide Ecommerce Operations and Capabilities

New Online Stores Cater to Customers in Asia Pacific and Nordic Regions

CUPERTINO, Calif. – April 21, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced the launch of three new online stores for customers in Asia Pacific, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea, as well as four new online stores designed for customers in the Nordic Region, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. The sites, which can be accessed at http://www.symantecstore.com/global/, use multiple languages and accept multiple currencies, meeting key localization requirements and making the purchasing process easier and more efficient.

Symantec's new online stores for the Asia Pacific region feature localized versions of Symantec's Internet security software solutions available electronically via digital download. Norton SystemWorks and boxed products are expected to be available for purchase this summer. Symantec's online stores localized for the Nordic region also feature Symantec's Internet security software solutions available electronically via digital download or shipped as boxed product depending on the customer's preference. The stores also have areas that are dedicated to specific customers such as small business and Macintosh users. Symantec's online stores are designed so customers can easily navigate and find the information they need to make the best software decisions based on their specific needs.

All of the sites are multi-lingual and allow customers to purchase Symantec products in multiple local currencies. Symantec has partnered with DigitalRiver, a global leader in ecommerce outsourcing, to provide order management and product fulfillment for all of Symantec's online stores.
