Channel partners Adexis, Helio Solutions and Strategic Technologies build on early success with VERITAS Enterprise Vault™ content archiving software
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - March 23, 2005 - VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS) today announced a new sales and technical training program across seven cities in the United States and Canada to provide VERITAS enterprise partners with skills training to manage VERITAS Enterprise Vault content archiving software engagements with their customers. Additional technical training tracks will be introduced in April to provide further in-depth training and extend education programs to a broader base of partners across North America. VERITAS channel partners, including Adexis, Helio Solutions and Strategic Technologies, Inc., have already voiced strong support for VERITAS content archiving capabilities, as customers seek ways to more effectively manage Microsoft Exchange e-mail environments and help ensure regulatory compliance.
Strategic Technologies—a VERITAS partner since 1995—began engaging its sales, consulting and support staff in education programs from VERITAS for Enterprise Vault training immediately following VERITAS' acquisition of KVS in September 2004.
"With growing regulatory requirements, customers need solutions that allow them to develop and implement an e-mail retention and management strategy. Adding Enterprise Vault to the VERITAS portfolio means customers now have a single provider capable of meeting all of their storage management, backup and archiving requirements," said Jim Togher, vice president of solutions consulting, Strategic Technologies, Inc. "And importantly for Strategic Technologies, working with VERITAS means we get the highest levels of technical education, product and sales support across a full spectrum of proven products. We're building a core Enterprise Vault practice team to support our sales teams in a complete capacity."
New Education Programs for Archiving and Compliance
The Enterprise Vault education program includes one day of intensive sales training and two days of in-depth technical education. Launched to packed classrooms in New York in March, the program also includes consulting classes and shadowing engagements intended to enable partners to get hands-on experience in real customer environments. In addition, VERITAS Virtual Academy will provide Enterprise Vault education through online training modules beginning in April. Three course tracks, including virtual and instructor-based training, will offer the following:
- On-demand modules will include two hours of hands-on labs via remote systems to help partners learn to perform Enterprise Vault product demonstrations. Courses will be available 7 days a week, 24-hours a day.
- Three hours live web casts and two days of hands-on lab training via remote systems to learn to perform basic Enterprise Vault installation and configuration.
- Four days of instruction and hands-on labs in a classroom environment to learn advanced installation and configuration methodologies, troubleshooting and how to conduct Proofs of Concept. (Available in May)
A Forrester Research study shows the message archiving market going through a period of rapid growth from $197 million in 2003 and peaking in 2006 at $994 million, with a CAGR of 38%¹. According to Erica Rugullies, senior analyst for Forrester's Information Delivery Research, there are three major drivers for the market: "Demand for integrated archiving, enterprise content management, and storage solutions are increasing as organizations seek to comply with laws and regulations, protect themselves from lawsuits, and cut cost out of their messaging environments."
Enterprise Vault software manages all unstructured content including e-mail, file systems, SharePoint Portal Server and instant messages. The software helps users significantly reduce risk and increase operational efficiency while complying with laws and regulations governing the retention and supervision of electronic data.
"Adexis has been addressing customer needs for robust and comprehensive email management systems with Enterprise Vault for over a year now and we were one of the first VERITAS partners trained and authorized to implement it," says Michael Trautman, vice president of sales for Adexis, the storage division of Cranel, Inc. "Enterprise Vault has helped our customers seamlessly upgrade Exchange, significantly shrink their message stores and quickly meet email compliance requirements. The addition of Enterprise Vault to the VERITAS portfolio of solutions provides Adexis with a much broader spectrum of capabilities for solving customer problems."
"We began selling Enterprise Vault just after VERITAS acquired KVS and have found that regulatory compliance is a key driving factor behind companies' interest in e-mail archiving," said David Auerweck, vice president, Strategic Market Sales, Helio Solutions. "The demand for e-mail archiving software is huge, and we expect this market to continue growing rapidly, which is why we're building a separate practice around VERITAS Enterprise Vault."
