Thompson today will open the company's ninth annual user conference, Symantec Vision 2006, by highlighting the company's strategy to provide the complete protection necessary for an organization to keep its infrastructure up and running without sacrificing access to critical information. The company will also present a select group of global customers with Symantec Visionary awards to recognize their use of Symantec software products and services to achieve measurable business benefits.

This year marks the third annual Visionary Awards selections, recognizing IT leaders from around the world for their innovative use of Symantec solutions to ensure the security, availability and performance of business critical information and applications to drive tangible business benefits. Representing a range of industries, global markets and geographic locations, the 2006 Visionary Award winners include American Express, Banco de Chile, Clearstream, DHL, Kettering Medical Center Network, MGM MIRAGE, Shinhan Bank and Sisters of Mercy Health System.
Symantec IT Compliance
Symantec today will unveil its IT Compliance solution, a broad set of interoperable security and availability products and services that allow customers to reduce the costs of achieving compliance by automating: policy management, IT controls assessment, collection of data from disparate IT control points, policy enforcement and documentation retention. This IT Compliance solution positions Symantec as the only company that automates the collection of data from disparate IT control points, including security and availability products, to provide an organization with a consolidated view of its IT compliance systems and policies.
At 4 PM PDT today, David Smith, Senior Compliance Analyst, Symantec Corp., will moderate a panel discussion on the importance of IT compliance and how to best define, control and govern compliance with internal policies and industry regulations. The panel will consist of three Symantec representatives and executives with three Symantec customers, and will focus on the different areas associated with IT compliance including IT policies and controls, document retention, and professional services.
