Constellation Energy Selected as Network World Enterprise All-star for E-discovery Project with Clearwell

Deployment of the Clearwell Intelligence Platform Significantly Reduced Costs and Minimized Risk at Fortune 200 Energy Company

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—November 26, 2007—Clearwell Systems, Inc., a leader in Intelligent E-Discovery, today announced that Baltimore -based Constellation Energy was named one of Network World's Enterprise All-Stars for 2007. Selected from nearly 100 entrants, Constellation Energy was recognized for streamlining and automating the company's e-discovery process using the Clearwell Intelligence Platform®. As a result, Constellation Energy improved its security, mitigated risk and ensured compliance in a highly regulated climate.

Prior to implementing Clearwell, Constellation set out to improve security and compliance by launching a project to dramatically reduce the time, money and head count spent on the organization's e-discovery process. A critical part of this transformation was to automate the error-prone and costly process of manually responding to regular investigative requests and data inquiries throughout the company's entire network on electronically stored information (ESI).

"We chose Clearwell after an exhaustive search for a solution that went beyond keyword searching," said Frank Chambers, director of information security management at Constellation Energy. "It was important that we had a product that worked seamlessly with the systems we already had in place. Prior to deploying Clearwell, our IT department was spending upward of 45,000 hours sifting through electronically stored information, at significant cost to the company. Now we have a standardized process and the savings in man-hours and dollars are immeasurable."

The Clearwell Intelligence Platform automates the manual time-consuming process of analyzing ESI for legal e-discovery cases, regulatory inquiries and corporate investigations. A study conducted by Enterprise Strategy Group found that Clearwell's electronic discovery product has delivered millions of dollars in savings to customers, reducing review and analysis costs by more than 60 percent on average. The product is complementary to archiving and forensics solutions including CommVault, EMC, Guidance Software, HP, Microsoft, Symantec, and Quest Software.

"Constellation Energy stands as a shining example of how to use technology and organizational best practices in implementing an effective enterprise e-discovery program," Network World editors said. "The selection process was difficult with nearly 100 excellent applicants, but in the end we feel that the quality of the projects that we selected showcase Network World's commitment to excellence."
