NEW YORK from LEGALTECH NY 2008—February 5, 2008—Clearwell Systems, Inc., a leader in Intelligent E-Discovery, today announced that the latest version of the Clearwell E-Discovery Platform®, version 3.0, is compliant with the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) Project’s Extensible Markup Language (XML) standard, EDRM XML 1.0. The Clearwell E-Discovery Platform is one of the first e-discovery products to achieve compliance with the newly released XML standard, which was designed to improve interoperability and the transfer of electronically stored information (ESI) between applications involved in different phases of the discovery process. Through EDRM XML compliance, Clearwell provides increased cost savings and additional reduction in workload and risk during the entire e-discovery lifecycle.
In 2007, Clearwell’s director of product management, Kurt Leafstrand, served as the project lead for the XML Schema Definition (XSD) Completion Working Group, which was responsible for defining and finalizing the XML standard. “Clearwell’s commitment to compliance with this important standard demonstrates our position as a leader among e-discovery technologies. By complying with the EDRM XML standard, we are helping accelerate the trend toward better collaboration between enterprises, outside counsel and service providers,”Leafstrand said. “Using XML, our customers can dramatically reduce their workload and eliminate errors as they transfer data from the Clearwell E-Discovery Platform to litigation support databases for production.”
The EDRM XML compliant Clearwell E-Discovery Platform v3.0 provides the following benefits:
“By implementing a standard way of managing the collaboration between technologies, EDRM has capitalized on the industry’s readiness to work together and move the entire industry forward,” said George J. Socha, principal analyst with Socha Consulting and co-founder of the EDRM Project. “Clearwell’s contribution to the development of the XML standard and the company’s quick response to compliance are testament to its commitment to forward progress.”
Clearwell will demonstrate its EDRM-compliant XML load-file creation, along with over 60 new features of the recently released Clearwell E-Discovery Platform v3.0 at LegalTech New York 2008, February 5-7, Booth 2612.
