KASIKORNBANK Protects Over 400,000 Internet Banking Customers With VeriSign® Extended Validation SSL Certificates

Leading bank in Thailand to use Extended Validation SSL Certificates to help protect customers from Internet threats

Bangkok, Thailand - 1st July, 2009 - VeriSign, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN), the trusted provider of Internet infrastructure services for the networked world, today announced that it has been selected by KASIKORNBANK (KBank) to provide Extended Validation SSL (EV SSL) Certificates to help protect its 400,000+ Internet banking customers from Internet security threats, such as phishing, identity theft and online financial fraud.

"When it comes to transacting money and sharing confidential personal information over the Internet, our online banking customers expect us to protect them from the various security threats that exist online," said Mr Art Wichiencharoen, Retail and SME E-Business Department, KBank. "For this reason, we have implemented VeriSign's EV SSL Certificates on our K-Cyber Banking site to provide immediate visual assurance to our customers that our site is legitimate and they are protected."

KBank is Thailand's third largest bank, with total assets of Baht 1,217,861 Million, 721 branches across the country and seven overseas offices. It is one of the first banks in Thailand using EV SSL Certificates to protect Internet banking customers, demonstrating its commitment to providing service excellence to its customers.

"Internet banking is a dynamic business environment and has many risks - it is crucial that banks get their security right to build trust and give customers the confidence to bank online," said Armando Dacal, Director of Authentication, VeriSign Asia Pacific. "Not only do VeriSign's EV SSL Certificates visually confirm the security of KBank's Internet banking site, but it also protects its customers' legitimate interests."

When customers now visit KBank's K-Cyber Banking site, VeriSign's EV SSL Certificates provide immediate visual cues to those using the latest Web browsers that currently support EV SSL, such as Internet Explorer 7 and the latest releases of Firefox and Opera. The address bar turns green, a padlock icon appears next to the address and a new field displays to the right of the URL in the browser. This field contains the name of the organisation that owns the site as well as the security provider that issued the certificate, such as VeriSign.

According to Mr Wichiencharoen, KBank has always used VeriSign's SSL certificates to secure its Web sites. "VeriSign is the market leader with a well recognised and respected brand with our customers in Thailand. As a result, we are now in the process of extending our implementation of VeriSign EV SSL Certificates to our payment gateway service as well."

As the most respected and trusted SSL authority on the Web, VeriSign is the EV SSL Certificate provider of choice for more than 10,000 Internet domain names, representing 74 percent of the entire EV SSL Certificate market worldwide1. In fact, more than 95 percent of the Fortune 500 and 96 of the world's 100 largest SSL-using banks secure their sites with SSL Certificates sold by VeriSign2.
