MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – February 11, 2010 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced Payment Systems Group, Inc. has cut endpoint security administration time in half and experienced zero downtime due to malware after deploying Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition company-wide.
St. Louis-based Payment Systems Group, Inc. (PSG) is an online payment processing company with multiple office locations. Its technology solutions help customers accelerate the payoff of their mortgages and other loans resulting in a reduced payoff period and shaving thousands of dollars off their obligations. The company must ensure sensitive customer information is secure, but found itself devoting an ever-increasing amount of attention and energy to IT administration.
“More and more of our time was being spent on trying to administer backups and monitor security,” says Grant Szalay, president and CEO, Payment Systems Group, Inc. “We went through a lot of products, and as we expanded offices, security software was added on an ad-hoc basis. We probably had five different antivirus vendors, and nobody knew when their licenses were going to expire.”
So PSG began looking for a single, comprehensive endpoint security solution that did not require a lot of administration time. They selected Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, designed to provide easy-to-use, enterprise-level protection that optimizes performance and system resources so small businesses can get up and running quickly. Szalay and his IT team deployed the software on their own in March 2009.
“It could not have been simpler. We started at our data center and moved out to various offices, and finally to remote laptops,” adds Szalay. “Distribution of a single product can be difficult, but I was impressed that the Symantec console let us simply send out an email to individual employees, letting them download the client. Most of our people simply installed the software on their computers themselves.”
Since implementing Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, PSG has not experienced any downtime due to a malware outbreak, and has reduced IT administration time by more than 50 percent.
Based on its positive experience with Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, PSG has also turned to Symantec for data backup and recovery. PSG has implemented Symantec Backup Exec in its data center, and plans to roll it out to individual workstations in 2010.
