The 2010 State of the Data Center report is based on input from 1,780 data center managers in 26 countries worldwide. For the first time since the report was introduced in 2006, Symantec found that mid-sized enterprises, rather than large or small-enterprise organizations, are vanguards of the data center, leading in new technology adoption, data center change, and focus on staffing. This year’s State of the Data Center research also noted that the most important initiatives for 2010 are security, backup and recovery, and continuous data protection. At the same time, the study found that IT organizations continue to face ongoing, familiar challenges such as increased data center complexity, reduced or flat resources and budgets, and incomplete disaster recovery plans.
