Vice President, Data Loss Prevention Solutions
Joseph Ansanelli serves as Vice President of Data Loss Prevention Solutions at Symantec where he oversees product development, sales and marketing for the company’s DLP solutions. Ansanelli joined Symantec in 2007 as part of the Vontu acquisition where he served as CEO.
Under Ansanelli’s leadership, Vontu emerged as a leading provider of data loss prevention (DLP) solutions. Founded in 2001, the company was instrumental in establishing and defining this new category of security technology. With a mission to reduce the risk of data loss, Vontu helped organizations ensure public confidence, demonstrate compliance and maintain competitive advantage.
As a result of the leadership position which Vontu achieved in the DLP market, the U.S. Congress called on Ansanelli multiple times to testify before legislative hearings on identity theft and data security. In June 2003, Ansanelli testified on Congressional Panel Entitled "Fighting Identity Theft - The Role of the Fair Credit Reporting Act." In March 2005, he testified on the Congressional Panel entitled "Protecting Consumer's Data: Policy Issues Raised by ChoicePoint."
Ansanelli has successfully co-founded and led two other companies prior to Vontu and has proven success developing innovative solutions into winning companies by setting a crisp vision and unleashing the talent of strong teams. Before Vontu, Ansanelli was the Vice President of Marketing at Kana Communications, Inc. during which time the company went public and grew from $14 to $120 million in revenues with hundreds of Global 2000 customers. He joined Kana in August 1999 by virtue of Kana's merger with Connectify, a provider of electronic direct marketing software that he founded and served as its CEO. Additionally, he has held various product management and business development positions with companies including Netscape, Etrade, and Macromedia. His first venture, Trio Development's Claris Organizer, was ultimately acquired by Palm, Inc.
Ansanelli holds four patents and received a B.S. in Applied Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
