What is Norton Secure Login?

Norton Community Watch allows Norton security product users from around the world to help speed identification and further reduce the time to deliver protection against new security risks trying to infect your computer. The program collects selected security and application data and submits the data to Symantec for analysis to identify new threats and their sources, and to help improve user security and product functionality.
Norton Secure Login accounts are more secure than a simple username and password because we check your identity before we issue an account. We may also require you to utilize two-factor authentication to identify yourself upon login, depending upon the level of protection the website owner has chosen to implement.

Who Is Symantec and Where Is It Located?

Symantec Corporation is located in the United States. We collect and store your personal information in the United States.

What Does Symantec Know About Me?

We only know the information that you provide to us. In order to help you authenticate yourself to websites that use the Norton Secure Login service, we may ask for information like your name, email address, date of birth, Social Security Number, credit card number, home address and telephone numbers.

Do I Have to Give Symantec My Information?

You are not required to provide any information to Symantec. However, if you choose not to provide any required information, you will not be able to use Norton Secure Login to assist in verifying your identity to third parties that utilize Norton Secure Login (“Relying Parties”). Relying Parties that use Norton Secure Login may not allow you to sign in to their website, or, may offer you alternative methods of required authentication in order to use their website.

How Does Symantec Verify My Identity?

To assist us in authenticating your identity, we use the information that you have provided and compare it with information from your personal credit profile or other information held by consumer reporting agencies with which we have contracted.
We do not receive additional information about you from these consumer reporting agencies. They merely confirm or deny the likelihood that you are who you say you are, based on the information you have provided.

What If I Want To Access My Information?

You are able to view and update much of your information through your Norton Secure Login Account. Under certain circumstances, you may be able to request the removal of inaccurate or incorrect information we have about you. We will respond to requests to access or delete your information within 30 days.

Information We Collect About You

In order to use Norton Secure Login you must first create a Norton Secure Login Account on the Norton Secure Login. To create a Norton Secure Login Account you are required to provide your name, email address, indicate the region in which you are located and choose a password to protect your account.
In addition, when you visit our Website or use our Service, we may collect or ask you to provide certain information, in order to help us authenticate your identity. This information may include:
  1. Home address;
  2. Home and mobile phone numbers;
  3. Date of birth;
  4. Credit card information; and
  5. Social Security Number ("SSN")

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to us to authenticate you in the context of transactions you conduct with third parties that utilize Norton Secure Login ("Relying Parties"). Relying Parties offer Norton Secure Login as an additional layer of security in order to assist in verifying your identity.
To assist us in authenticating your identity, we use the information that you have provided and compare it with information from your personal credit profile or other information held by consumer reporting agencies with which we have contracted, in order to:
  1. Confirm your identity;
  2. Issue an identity credential; and/or
  3. Avoid fraudulent transactions in your name
We do not receive additional information about you from these consumer reporting agencies. They merely confirm or deny the likelihood that you are who you say you are, based on the information you have provided.
We may also use your information to send you promotional information, in accordance with your permission, as required by applicable law.

How We Share Your Information

We are a global organization and we may store and process your information in other countries, including countries that may have less protective data protection laws than the country in which you are located.
We share only the information you have provided to us with Relying Parties for the sole purpose of allowing them to verify your identity with a higher degree of certainty.
We retain the services of outside contractors to provide services for us. They may be used to perform functions such as to provide technical support or handle order processing. We require that these contractors keep the personal information of customers secure and confidential. We also require that these contractors use personal information only on our behalf.
Please be advised that in certain instances, it may be necessary for Symantec to disclose your personal information to government officials or otherwise as required by our legal obligations.

How We Protect Your Information

To protect your information, we have taken appropriate administrative, technical, physical and procedural security measures, consistent with international information practices, including encrypting your information during transmission.
We do not store your credit card information beyond the required instant in time required to authenticate your identity, at which time it is immediately purged from our systems and is not recoverable.

Third Party Websites

You may use our authentication service to login to various third party websites that have chosen to offer Norton Secure Login as a verification mechanism. These third party websites may have privacy practices which differ from ours. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of websites that are owned by companies which are not within the Symantec group of companies. We encourage you to review third party website privacy statements carefully.

Cookies

Like most websites, we use cookies. A cookie is a unique text file that a website can send to your browser. Cookies enable a website to tailor information presented to you based on your browsing preferences and activities.
We use a "session" cookie to identify a particular visit by you to our site, without this, every page would ask you to provide your login name and password. Session cookies expire after a short time or when you close your web browser. If your browser settings do not allow cookies, you will not be able to use our website.
We may also use cookies to track your visit to our website. We may collect information, including your IP address, in a form that may be personally identifiable.
