To take control of its one million emails sent and received every month, while protecting the organization from web borne threats, including spam, viruses and data leakage, University Hospitals of Leuven (UZ Leuven), one of the leading hospitals in Belgium, standardized on an integrated Symantec information risk management solution.
UZ Leuven selected Symantec Enterprise Vault for its email and archiving solution to support a total of 4,500 accounts, spanning five hospital sites, and more than 12,000 separate email accounts resulting in an 186 percent return on investment. Symantec Brightmail Gateway provided highly reliable and effective antispam and antivirus scanning on all emails which enabled the hospital to capture 98 percent of spam emails. Symantec Endpoint Protection replaced a McAfee solution to protect the hospital against malware for desktops and servers, while lowering total cost of ownership.
“Symantec provides rigorous retention and archiving policies for our email, portal content, files and documents,” says Reinoud Reynders. “It is contributing to reduced storage costs by reducing the amount of information held in mail and file systems. Simultaneously, it is simplifying the hospital’s information risk management with a single, integrated solution. We view Symantec as a proven, long-term strategic partner for UZ Leuven.”
