Category DefinitionsWhat are Symantec's category definitions? Norton Internet Security contains a number of lists (or categories) of URLs which a user can mark as allowed or denied. Symantec is continually reviewing web sites and updating the lists. On this page you will find the criteria we use to place a URL into a list. URL categories are provided "as is". Please refer to the Legal Notice regarding any disclaimers and warranties. Users with appropriate privileges have the ability to enable/disable any category or recategorises any URL within any category. Requests to Symantec for category corrections are subject to review. If you believe a URL is incorrectly categorised (or should be categorised and is not) please visit the Symantec Internet Security Center to report it. Symantec will respond to category solicitations by informing you of any change in status.

Alcohol-Tobacco Sites selling, promoting, or advocating the use of alcoholic beverages (including beer, wine, and hard liquors) and tobacco products (including cigarettes, cigars, and pipe and chewing tobacco). Anonymous Proxies Sites that allow Internet content to be retrieved on behalf of a user with the intent of obscuring the user's identity from the content server, obscuring the source of the content from content-filtering software, or both.
