Symantec Vulnerability Assessment 1.0 Engine Update 1.0.4

Description

Engine Update release 1.0.4 for Symantec Vulnerability Assessment 1.0 updates the SVA Manager so that audits can be run against Windows Server 2003 Agents.

To update your SVA engine:

  1. Download sva104.exe to your SESA Manager.
  2. Run sva104.exe.
  3. Run LiveUpdate.
  4. Repeat these steps for each of your SESA Managers.

No Agent or Console upgrades are required.

After a successful installation, Windows Server 2003 is added to the list of operating systems in the lower-left pane of the Vulnerability tab in the SESA Console. Also, the SVA version number is changed to 1.0.4.

To verify the SVA version number:

  1. On the Vulnerability tab of the SESA console, click Help.
  2. Select About Symantec Vulnerability Assessment.
  3. Verify that the version number has changed to 1.0.4.

Details

The sva104.exe stops the Apache Tomcat service, replaces the sva.war file with an updated version, then restarts Tomcat.

LiveUpdate then loads new Windows Server 2003 vulnerability signatures into the SESA/SVA DataStore.

Note: If you run LiveUpdate before you install sva104.exe, the list of operating systems in the lower-left pane of the Vulnerability tab will show an “unknown” operating system. Install sva104.exe and run LiveUpdate again to complete the installation.
