Release Notes
Introduction
This document provides the installation, what’s new, and known issues information for the 6.1 release of Inventory Solution for Pocket PC and Altiris Agent for Pocket PC.
Altiris Pocket PC Agent provides underlying functionality for all Altiris solutions designed to manage Pocket PC handhelds including Altiris® Software Delivery Solution™ 6.1 for Pocket PC, Altiris® Inventory Solution® 6.1 for Pocket PC and Altiris® Security Solution™ 6.1 for Handhelds.
Installation and Upgrade
Prerequisites
Altiris Pocket PC Agent requires the latest version of Altiris® Notification Server™ 6.0. The Notification Server minimum requirements are documented in the Altiris Notification Server Help. Managed Pocket PC handhelds require the Altiris Pocket PC Agent to be configured and installed. The Altiris Pocket PC Agent minimum requirements are documented in the Inventory Solution 6.1 for Pocket PC Product Guide. This version includes all fixes from previous service packs.
Where to Download
You can download released versions of Altiris products from http://www.altiris.com/Download.aspx.
You can download beta versions of Altiris products from http://beta.altiris.com.
New Installation or Upgrade
You can install or upgrade from either the Altiris Download page or from the Solution Center using the Altiris Console.
To download and extract the installer files from the Altiris Download page
1. Go to the Altiris Web site download page (http://www.altiris.com/Download.aspx).
2. Enter your e-mail address.
3. Select the product you want to install: Inventory Solution for Pocket PC.
4. Click Submit.
5. Read and accept the license agreement.
6. Click Download Altiris Installation and Configuration Manager.
7. Click Run.
To install or upgrade Inventory Solution for Pocket PC from the Solution Center
1. Open the Altiris Console.
2. Click the Configuration tab.
3. In the left pane, click Upgrade/Install Additional Solutions.
4. On the content pane, click the Available Solutions tab and then click Solutions.
5. From the list of solutions, select Inventory Solution for Pocket PC. The Solution Update screen appears.
6. On the Solution Update screen, click Start to begin the solution download.
7. When the download completes, on the content pane, click the Currently Installed tab. Here, you can view all the installed solutions.
| Upgrade Issues | |

During an upgrade of Altiris Pocket PC Agent and Inventory Solution for Pocket PC all default tasks, packages and programs may revert back to their default settings. Custom tasks, packages, and programs will not be modified by this upgrade. All default Inventory Tasks will be disabled (if they were previously enabled) during the upgrade of Inventory Solution for Pocket PC. To fix this, simply re-enable the affected tasks. |

Including Language Resources during Existing Agent Upgrades The default path to the language resource files is: The files are as follows: If you do not wish to install the German Language Resource file on your client computers using the default upgrade package, simply remove the AtrsLang00000407.dll from this directory. If you remove one of the files and later need it you can also copy it out of the following folder (default path): C:\Program Files\Altiris\PocketPCAgent\Agent Files\LangRes. |

Including Language Resources on New Pocket PC Agent Installations To include language resources, or to exclude language resources you do not need, use the utility Set Pocket PC Agent Server that is accessible from Start > All Programs > Altiris > Solutions > Handheld Management Suite > Set Pocket PC Agent Server. This utility lets you select single or multiple languages to include with new installations of the Altiris Pocket PC Agent. |

| Pocket PC Agent Manager If the Pocket PC Agent Manager (Configuration Tab > Configuration > Altiris Agent > Altiris Agent Rollout > Handhelds > Pocket PC > Install Pocket PC Agent Manager) was used to install the Pocket PC Agent on handhelds, you will need to re-configure and enable agent rollout this task. |
