Features in this Release
The following are the main new features of this 7.0 release:
Inventory for Network Devices tasks
Inventory for Network Devices gathers data by running tasks that are part of the Symantec Management Platform task management component. The inventory data is stored in the CMDB. When you configure a network inventory task, you select the protocols and credentials to use for the inventory. You use a connection profile to configure the way the protocols are used.
Agentless Inventory task wizard
The new wizard-based approach helps simplify the creation of agentless inventory tasks. Through a simple 4-step wizard, you can specify the type of network devices to inventory, select network protocols to be used as well as enter task’s name, and choose when to run it.
Agentless Inventory portal
The portal provides a convenient landing page for everything related to Inventory for Network Devices with easy access to the Inventory wizard, Data mapping tables, inventory job status, and high-level visual status information.
Expanded protocol support
By leveraging the platform's Pluggable Protocol Architecture (PPA), we have expanded our supported network protocols to SNMP v2, IPMI and WS-Man.
Virtualization support
We have added support for VMware ESX 3.x/3i guest and host inventory.
